Dad: Be careful standing near those trees.
Daughter: Why? The sky is clear and there's no chance of lightning.
Dad: I don't know really. They just look kind of shady to me.

Father’s Day is all sorts of good feelings for me.

*Reversing the car
Dad: Ahh, this takes me back.

I was lucky enough to grow up with a Dad who was there, and took an active interest in my life.  I don’t recall a time he missed something important, and he was usually the biggest fan there.  He practiced tough love when necessary, but he knew when to listen and be a friend.  It’s probably no surprise that I eventually made my way into Real Estate, as he has been in the business for many years.

Dad:  I have a fear of speed bumps...
but, I'm slowly getting over it.

I also had many other father figures in my life with my friend’s dads, uncles, grandpas, teachers, father in law, and others.  They all helped to shape me.  Trust me…they all had their work cut out, as I required (still do) a lot of work shaping me.  I am grateful for those men, and know that had my own dad not been there, that they would have.

Nurse: Do you smoke?
Dad: Only when I'm on fire.

Finally, I am so happy that I get to be a Father.  It has changed my life, and continues to be the greatest thing I do.  My kid teaches me, and inspires me to try harder.  In addition, I can help to be a father figure to those not in my own home, and hopefully make a difference in some small way.

*Holding a stepladder
Dad: This is my stepladder. I never knew my real ladder.

At Smile St George, we want to wish all of those Fathers and Father Figures out there a great day.  Oh, and here's to another year of great Dad jokes!
